Morning: Spiritual Leadership with Sue Montgomery
Since 2003 Sue has served on staff at West Highland Baptist Church in Hamilton, Ontario as Women’s Ministries Director, giving leadership to all aspects of Women’s Ministries. Her personal passions include inviting women inside and outside the church to consider the truth about new life in Christ.
Sue obtained a Christian Education diploma from Warner Southern Christian College during the 80’s and has continued with courses of interest during her time in Hamilton at Redeemer University-College. Reading is still a love (there’s never enough time for all the great books that have been written!).
Sue has been prepared for these current roles through years in business sales, recruitment and management. Sue is married to Scott who owns his own businesses and is involved in Executive Coaching. They have two children, Kristen and Joshua.
Afternoon: Communicating with Confidence 1 with Julianne August
This practical hands-on module will discuss the fundamentals in message preparation and delivery. Topics will be covered such as:
- Deciding on a topic
- Applying Scripture
- Choosing an illustration
- Deciding what to wear
- Dealing with our fears
- Addressing the audience
Some time will also be spent on the necessity of being effective in our written communication to others.
Julianne August is a strategic leader and inspiring communicator who enjoys equipping and investing in others. She has served on staff at Compass Community Church in Orangeville since 2006 as Director of Community Life. In her role Julianne gives specific oversight to women's ministry, seniors, DivorceCare, Sunday morning connections, and care ministry. She shepherds and equips nearly 30 small groups, and provides support and training to their leaders.
Julianne serves on both the FEB National Council and the FEB Central Board of Directors and is also on the team for Gather, a movement of Canadian women of faith from coast to coast. She is a board certified life coach whose passion is to inspire others to thrive in their kingdom calling and walk confidently in their unique giftedness. She is also a graduate of the very first class of WMI in 2006. Julianne is married to Paul and they have two young adult sons. She is a lover of all things pink.
Julianne's heart is to stay connected to Christ through a community of believers, Scripture and prayer. She recognizes that apart from Christ she can do nothing.
